CAMPUS EFFORTS OVERVIEW

Some programs implemented on the Corporate Centre campus to achieve and maintain the U.S. Green Building Council’s Gold LEED Certification are discussed below.
SITE FEATURES
Exterior lighting is managed to provide safety and security for building occupants, while meeting sustainability goals. Any light features that are not focused directly downward have been retrofitted to lower-power bulbs to reduce the amount of light that is spread to neighboring properties and the night sky.
WATER EFFICIENCY
Where feasible, plumbing fixtures have been modified or retrofitted to optimize water savings. The interior plumbing fixtures in these buildings save over 1.5 million gallons of water each year, when compared to buildings of a similar age and size. That’s the equivalent of 9.6 million 20 oz. bottles of water, saved every year.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
All of the buildings on this campus are highly enery efficient; energy use is tracked on a continuous basis and reported to Energy Star.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Spectrum|Emery maintains an extensive recycling program, all tenants are encouraged to participate. Materials that are recycled on a regular basis include: glass, plastics, metals, mixed paper, toner cartridges, batteries, light bulbs, and cardboard.
INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Spectrum|Emery strives to maintain good indoor air quality through a variety of measures. First, care is taken to minimize the amount of contaminants that enter the buildings. Smoking is not permitted within 25’ of building entrances, walk-off mats are maintained at each major entrance, and extensive programs for both green cleaning and pest management are in place that include requirements for cleaning and pest management chemicals. To maintain a high level of indoor air quality, building engineers regularly verify that outdoor air concentrations are within code requirements, and a quarterly inspection of each building is specifically tailored to identify any potential air quality concerns.
